A large, corner, five roomed stone house in need of some renovation although the roof seems to be in good condition, is located conveniently in the lower half of this big village that is only 2 kms from Sitia and although this property is not presented very well at present, it is possible to see its potential if one can employ a good pinch of imagination. It is possible to drive to the house and there is some parking available and the house has a large roof where it would be possible to make a roof garden with a lovely view of the river valley.
The house and courtyard covers 123m² and the house itself covers 76m² of that space and there is a metal gate into the courtyard from the road. The main living room has a doorway from the courtyard and measures about 6 x 4 mtrs with two large shuttered windows overlooking the side street. There is a small fireplace at one end of the room, a Cretan stone bench that was once used as a couch and a large solid bed platform at the other end of the room. This room could easily be divided and would make a good sized living room and a bedroom. An internal door at the end enters a smaller room about 4 x 3 mtrs and this room also has a large shuttered window that looks out into the side street. The ceilings in these two rooms are very high at about 3.5 mtrs and could be galleried or be fitted with a mezzanine floor to be used as an extra sleeping area.
A second set of internal doors leads to the next room which also measures about 3 x 4 mtrs and this room has a set of double doors back into the courtyard. This room stretches across the back of the courtyard and the roof is lower and would be an ideal place in which to put a circular ladder to the roof. On the other side of the courtyard is a small kitchen which measures about 3 x 1.5 mtrs and next to the doorway is a shuttered window giving good light and ventilation; there is also a stainless steel and an original corner chimneybreast which is often used these days for an extractor over the cooker.
The last room is a cloak room with an old toilet and washbasin and measures about 1.5 x 1.5 mtrs. At the end of the courtyard is the once very necessary old outside sink for the washing and the cleaning of vegetables which is fixed to the outside wall. Once the plastering and stonework is attended too, this courtyard will be both sheltered and private and if it is filled with tubs full of flowering plants, it will be a very pleasant place to relax.
Water and electric is already connected, there is mains drainage and the telephone connection is just outside the gate.
